Hired: Partnership Superintendent & Chief Academic Officer

After a thorough search, Executive Director, Jill Kafka today announced the hiring of Ms. Kathleen Porter-Magee, a 17-year veteran with experience in education and policy, in both Catholic and charter schools, with nearly a decade spent working directly in and with schools.

Porter-Magee comes to the Partnership most recently from the College Board, where she serves as the Senior Advisor for Policy and Instruction, and the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, where she serves as a Bernard Lee Schwartz Policy Fellow.  Porter-Magee, who has emerged as one of the most influential voices on the Common Core State Standards, got her start in education as a Catholic School teacher in Maryland. She has previously served as the Senior Director of Curriculum and Professional Development at the charter management organization, Achievement First, and the Director of Teacher and Principal Professional Development and Recruitment for the Archdiocese of Washington, DC.

Jill said it best when she noted, “I can’t think of anyone better prepared to lead our schools and our academic team than Kathleen.  She has already started working with our principals on some curricular decisions and our principals have been giving her rave reviews.”

We will keep you posted as Kathleen gets to work helping the Partnership achieve its ultimate goal of developing outstanding Catholic elementary schools that provide low-income students with the life-changing academics, values, and skills they need to lead productive, fulfilling lives.
